Arne Jacobsen designed Egg™ for the Hall and reception areas at the Royal Hotel in Copenhagen. Egg is one of Jacobsen’s total design triumphs – a sculptural contrast to the building is almost exclusively vertical and horizontal surfaces. Egg born from a new technique, which Jacobsen was the first to use, a strong foam inner shell under the upholstery. As a sculptor, Jacobsen strove to find a perfect clay shell shape at home in his garage. Egg – with or without a footrest – is ideal for the living room and waiting areas as well as at home. Egg is available in a wide range of fabric and leather upholstery, always in combination with a star-shaped base in polished satin aluminum.
