The name and shape are inspired by a butterfly: the Japanese designer takes lightness from Nature and transforms it into a seat. A similarity that can be seen in the shape of the backrests that resemble the multicolored wings of a moth, unfolded to open in flight. Papilio was born indoors. From the sinuous curves to the conical structure, from the swivel base to the zip that dresses it like a high fashion dress: the many style details have made it a design icon. The outdoor version is sculptural, with the single-material interweaving in anthracite polyethylene yarn and even lighter, with its aluminum structure but maintaining the great comfort and the particular organic shape that have made the whole series (armchairs, sofas, chairs) an icon.
